Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan has asked Russia to urgently engage in the full restoration of several strategic railway sections, including the line from Yeraskh to the border with Nakhijevan and the Akhuryk section to the border with Turkey.

Pashinyan made the remarks at a briefing with journalists following a Cabinet meeting.

Commenting on a question regarding Russia’s possible involvement in the TRIPP project, the Prime Minister stressed that the declaration clearly defines the initiative as a bilateral Armenia–United States project.

“The declaration explicitly states that this is an Armenia–United States bilateral project, and the involvement of third countries can only be discussed within a bilateral framework. This is clearly formulated,” Pashinyan said.

He added that he did not consider it appropriate to provide interpretations beyond this framework.

At the same time, the Prime Minister noted that he had personally asked Russia’s partners to urgently address the complete restoration of the railway infrastructure, particularly the Yeraskh–Nakhijevan border section and the Akhuryk–Turkey border section.

Pashinyan also indicated that he plans to raise the issue of restoring the Ijevan–Gazakh railway section in the near future, emphasizing that this route also needs to be rehabilitated as quickly as possible.

The Prime Minister expressed hope that Russia’s partners would implement the request at the maximum possible speed.
